CAMP OPERATOR

Catherine is a lifelong local Tofino surfer who loves to spend most of her time in the ocean. A talented surfer with a beautiful style, Catherine is an incredible ambassador for her hometown of Tofino, B.C as a first generation Canadian surfer and Canada’s first female professional surfer. Now a surf coach and surf mom of one of Canada’s first Olympic hopefuls Catherine represented Canada at the Pan American Games in 2019 as one of the first members of the Canadian Surf Team. As one of the 9 qualified SUP Surf females in the Americas, this was an unbelievable dream come true. Again, Cath is traveling to Chile as part of Canadian surf team for the 2023 Pan American Games. She has 2 children and 9 nieces and nephews and one granddaughter she loves to surf with.

Zak Cross: Zak is our resident jack of all trades. He can be seen working in the shop On the water teaching lessons or on the lawn fixing boards (or sometimes even the vintage shop trucks.

Jacob Collard: Jake hails from Victoria, BC by way of Mexico. Full time manager, SUP Surf, Touring Guide and Surf Instructor at Tofino Paddle Surf, Jake is the glue that holds the team together. With his ever growing knowledge of the ocean and waves, Jake teaches both flatwater and SUP Surf and surfing as well.

Sarah Stoski: Sarah is a long time Tofino resident and owner of Long Beach Auto. SUP guide and mechanic, not a bad combo. When Sarah is not guiding at Tofino Paddle Surf or working hard to keep us all on the road then she is with her family. Like all of our guides she is a fully certified Paddle Canada Instructor and loves to be on the ocean, sharing her passion of SUP with friends and clients.

Shelby Kerr: Shelby is stoked to call B.C. her backyard! Having grown up in the mountains and lakes of Interior B.C., she moved to the coast to pursue her education in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management. She began this lifestyle as a kid, being an avid paddler, swimmer and skier around all the local spots. then You can find Shelby in the water almost everyday, guiding or practicing her SUP surfing skills. She loves to share her passion for the ocean and the environment in this beautiful place where the sea meets the mountains.

Kathleen Dempster: Hails from Nelson, BC and shows up miraculously every summer to save us during our busy times. Great smile and full of SUP knowledge, Kathleen is a valued shop team leader, SUP instructor, ideas girl and all around great addition to the team.

Our private and laid back location is steps away from the surf and sand of Cox Bay and has access to everything you need for your stay in Tofino.
Vaulted ceilings, bedroom patios, private outdoor showers and a large south facing yard make this custom built cedar home the perfect retreat for family gatherings. With forest views from every room, a fully stocked kitchen, heated floors, hand crafted furniture, a wood stove, and hot outdoor showers this is the perfect place for a relaxing time and a great nights sleep nestled in the old growth forest.

Tofino Paddle Surf is dedicated to exclusively offering private lessons. Our lessons cater to individuals, families or groups looking for more attention and time on the water. From arriving at our shop (with loads of parking) until the end of the lesson, you will receive one on one attention from your instructor. The lesson is tailored to you and your surfing experience with no need for the generic instruction and chaos of big group lessons

Our instructors are passionate about surfing and experienced with teaching all levels and ages.

We recommend booking these lessons in advance. If you have more than 6 people in your group, please contact us directly as discounted rates apply. Multi-lesson discounts are also available.
Requirements

All ages are welcome! No experience necessary.

To add an additional instructor for your lesson please call us 250 244 6399 (Mandatory for groups with 3 or more kids under 12).

- All lessons are taught by certified coaches and instructors. Our instructors surf!
- All our guides are CPR, Lifesaving and Paddle Canada Certified.
- We offer private lessons only. For you, your group or your family.
- For groups of 6 or more please contact us for DISCOUNTS
- Offered daily am and pm. Custom times available.
- All gear included with the lessons.
- Ample free parking is available right by our shop.
- Please bring your bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, a hat and straps for your glasses if necessary.
- Please arrive at the shop at least 10 minutes before your scheduled tour.

SURF CONDITIONS

Water temperatures range from 49 F – 57 F degrees (9 C – 14 C) during the spring and early summertime in Tofino. Wetsuits work really well and they do keep you warm in the water! We do have warmer wetsuits for surfing or paddling and some thinner ones for the warmer days too.

Join lifelong surfers who love to ride waves and want to share the stoke. We truly care! From day one, no matter the age or experience, we can lead you step by step at your pace or your private group or family’s pace. Every session builds on the previous and we can customize your experience depending on conditions and comfort level. There’s never any pressure and the focus is fun, safety, practice and learning!
