There is no accommodation on-site.

Whether you're planning to come to Tarifa on a personal adventure or with a group of friends, Kite Local School offers the convenience of finding your accommodation in Tarifa while you take your kitesurfing or surfing lessons.

This is a service we provide to our students and companions free of charge, at no additional cost to the courses. We don't charge any commissions or intermediaries. We're confident we can help you based on our years of experience in the area. We know the most suitable accommodations both in the Tarifa city center and those with panoramic views of the beach.

We manage your kitesurfing course + accommodation package reservation.

Our willingness is to help you arrange your accommodation from the moment you contact us. These are steps we've adopted based on our experience and, as a local business, we know how important it is to have comfortable nights' accommodation.

It's important that you let us know the accommodation type so we can tailor it to your needs. Whether you're considering apartments, hotels, or hostels with private bathrooms right in the center of town to enjoy the historic center, there are a variety of options... we have a wide variety of rates!

In July and August, all accommodations are fully booked, making it quite difficult to plan your vacation. Therefore, we advise you to plan ahead for these dates. It's also quite difficult for us to provide this service without advance notice, as the hotels are fully booked.

Objectives:

- Learn how to surf, knowing everything you need to know about how to handle yourself in the waves, on your own, independently.
- Understand the marine environment, learn about currents, wave formation and above all, to have a respect for the sea.
- Understand and respect other surfers and surfing protocol.
- Practice safe surfing.
- Techniques for paddling and standing.
- Specific warming up exercises and stretching techniques to prevent cramps occurring.
- Have fun surfing your first waves, a dynamic and entertaining experience.

WINDSURF LESSONS

Beginner: This course is designed for those who have never had contact with the sport.
We begin with the basic theory and wind explanation:

    Mounting equipment and naming all parts.
    Carrying all the material easily to the water.
    How to position your body, place your feet and the sail for each direction of navigation.
    How to hoist the sail (lifting it from the water).
    Sail movements (up and luffing-towards the wind; movements which change the direction of navigation).
    Collecting up equipment; it is important to know how to look after the equipment to keep it in good condition.
    This course takes 2-3 hours, depending on the advancement of the student.

Intermediate: To get to this stage the student must have reached the previous objectives.

    Starts from the shore, without starting on the board (beach-star).
    First glides (planing-jibe).
    Changing direction: turning from the stern, turning from the bow.
    Navigating using the harness and foot straps.
    Collecting up equipment; it is important to know how to look after the equipment to keep it in good condition.
    You are now a windsurfer, with this level you can rent out your own equipment and be independent.

Advanced: To start a course at this level, we are obliged to know your level.

We start this course doing some jumps and some of the easier freestyle manoeuvres: 360, helicopter tack, donkey jibe. And some advanced: vulcan, footwardloop, backloop.

KITE SURF LESSONS

Kitesurf is not a difficult sport. Learning an extreme sport in a few days is a luxury few sports can afford. Learning Kitesurf in Tarifa is not difficult but it requires safety. Kite Local School Tarifa has the latest Kitesurfing equipment in the market, a rescue boat, and one of the most innovative teaching certification in Kitesurf. You will be learning Kitesurf in Tarifa in full safety.
With Kite Local School you can decide either you want to just discover what Kitesurf is in a discovery course, to reach a certain level in Kitesurfing or to do the full course to reach independency.

In order to be fully independent in Kitesurfing, you will need to have ridden a certain number of hours. Generally, independency is obtained after 12 to 15 hours of lessons, from 2 to 3 hours per day. Nevertheless, Kite Local School does everything possible so that you have fun from the first hour of course.

KITESURF CONDITIONS

In Tarifa, we have two prevailing winds: Levante and Poniente, named for the rising and setting of the sun from opposite directions. The Levante is a strong wind. Due to the city's geographical location, a so-called "Venturi" effect occurs. The wind accelerates, creating a funnel effect. This wind is usually strong and gusty. The Levante wind is a wind we consider very good for ensuring a successful kiteboarding course. If you're just starting out with a kite, it's a little more complicated than with a steady wind, but once you master it, you have maximum control, due to the unstable winds that affect the kite. Kitesurfing is a water sport. Gliding in this wind is very easy and fun, as the sea is flat, making the objective of water-star (boarding) easy. It's important to know that with Levante winds (offshore), you must carry a rescue pass in case any problems arise. Keep in mind that this wind directs you into the sea. Now let's talk about the West Wind. This wind is the safest for your kitesurfing course for your first water activities. If your kite falls, this wind direction will carry you to shore. Handling the kite is easy because this wind is constant, without gusts. These are the reasons why we consider Tarifa the perfect location, as it boasts extensive beaches and diverse winds in a setting of stunning nature.

- A certified instructor will be teaching 3 to 4 students with a two kites. We strongly advise students to know each other for they will be assisting mutually all the time.

- Our top certified instructors will be fully available for a single student. It is the type of lesson we recommend the most, because it is the one the student will learn more and faster. Remember Kitesurf is a sport practice by a single person. At the end you will be alone riding on the board.
