LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Playa Guanico
The surfspot is famous for its empty line-up. It has a main beach break that is suitable for all levels. When the big swell comes, it hits the point that forms hollow fast wave; Throughout the year the waves has a consistency of 95% and the best waves from mid to high tide. At the dry season (Dec-May) the wind blows offshore that forms the waves just almost perfect. In the wet season (May - Nov) the swells are usually bigger. In the morning you will have clean and glassy waves. Because of the longstreched beach, this surfspot offers several great areas to surf.

Playa Cambutal
Within 30 minutes drive you can reach the next surfspot Cambutal. It is famous for its many breaks around. The main beach break is located directly in front of the town. It offers break left and right that is suitable for each level. For more experienced and advanced surfers there are several point breaks situated west of the town. Let us know, if trips and surf guiding is needed. We are very welcome providing you the service.

El Ranchito is a family owned Surfcamp. We are: Lorenzo, Jiani and our children Miliah and Luan. We are happy to welcome you into our home.
Lorenzo (Laurent) has been always a “surfer beach boy”, living by the ocean. Ever since there was but one interest to him: Chasing amazing waves everyday. So surf trips to spain, portugal, marokko and Indonesia were planned regularly. He even decided to live in Australia for 2 years. Besides Lorenzo’s high-quality teaching approaches, his main goal is also to make sure you can also develop the love to the ocean and surf.Particularly this is the reason why he enjoys teaching people to surf in Guanico. Comparing to many other surf schools in the busy areas, surf lessons are done like in production line: fast and simple, with as many people as possible. - The group are small and personal, he can spend time with each of his students 
Jiani, born in china but raised in Germany. Traveling and different cultures always interest me. This started at my young age when my family situation made traveling between Germany and China my every-year routine. When I was 16 I also did my first big solo travel to USA: one year high school exchange program. Since then I always had an urge to get away, seeing the world and meeting new people. Especially tropical places with remote beaches has always amazed me the most. So one day I made the decision that I want a life at the beach.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

---

First Timer: You have never stand on the surf board before. Our certified surf instructor will teach you the basics of surfing in the white foamy wave, where the water reaches to the chest only. This way you can get familiar with the strength of the wave.

What you will learn:
    Safety and ocean knowledge
    Correct handling of your surf materials
    Positioning on the board
    How to paddle
    Proper pop-up
    How to ride a wave

Progressive Beginners: Either you have already taken our absolute beginners lessons or have been some surfing experiences at the other school. In this particular surf program we will take you out to the line up and try to get the real green waves.

What you will learn:
    In-depth ocean knowledge
    Surfing etiquettes
    Turtle or Eskimo rolls (How to pass the foamy wave)
    Paddling technique for a better take off
    Taking right or left wave

Intermediate Program: Your pop-up is great and you have no problem in paddling to the line-up. Now it is time for the next level. Your new challenge is to make your ride as long as possible. Our certified surf instructor will lead you to a deeper understanding of the surf techniques and wave knowledge. Furthermore, you are going to learn how to do your first maneuvers.

Independent: You are an experienced surfer. Meaning you can surf right and left waves. You are able to do maneuvers on green waves. In this lesson we will give you guidance on our different surf spots and improve their existing skills with a technical coaching approach. It is a private lesson so we will focus on you to catch as many as waves possible. Surfboards are not included in this lesson but we can also provide you one if needed.

Surf Lessons For Kids
?Surf lessons specially designed just for kids!
Your Child will discover the ocean and surfing in a completely safe environment. For older kids, they will discover their own limits and increase their confidence in the water.
This way we prepare them to be able to surf on their own. Our main goal is making sure that your child will have lots of fun! Performance is a secondary objective.

Horseback Riding
Don't miss out the adventurous horseback riding experience in Guanico. Spend your day riding along the kilometer long remote beach and observe the beauty of the pacific ocean. For those who are more adventurous, another tour will bring you directly into the wild. While crossing river, small streams and riding through the woods you will encounter the gorgeous landscape with a remarkable experience.

Fishing trips
Our area, also called Azuero Peninsula, is famous for its fishing experience. Because of its abundance of Tuna, it has earned the name of "The Tuna Coast". Other fish like Marlin, Snappers, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo and much more can be found as well. Our experienced local captain will take you to the best fishing spot around the area. Either for half-a-day or full-day fishing trip we will arrange it for you.

Hiking
Guanico, a piece of paradise, offers several adventurous hiking tracks. Either by hiking through the woods or climbing the riff along the pacific coast you can explore the protected turtle beach "La Marinera". It is one of the renowned place where thousands of wild turtles regularly lay their eggs. Another hiking tour will take you just into the mountains, where you are able to observe the amazing landscape of the pacific ocean from above.

Playa ?Guanico is still an undiscovered place for surfing. It has a very remote long-stretched beach that is surrounded by nature. Its uncrowned line up and the consistence waves make this place very special and magical. Especially for beginners and intermediates, Playa Guanico is the right surf spot for improving your surfing skills. There is sandy beach, no dangerous currents, smooth waves and the most important, no people around. In this fun and safe environment you can focus completely on your surfing techniques.

Ways to get to the camp

The nearest airport is Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport (PTY). From there, guests can take a domestic flight, a rental car, or a bus to reach the camp.
