Caparica is Lisbon's go-to surf beach, offering a relaxed atmosphere perfect for both learning and enjoying surfing. Behind the scenic boulevard lies the beach, segmented by small breakwaters, making it easy to navigate. There’s something for everyone, and you can surf here nearly every day of the year. If the waves are a bit too big, head to Fonte de Telha, a small, laid-back beach just south of Caparica, where you’ll find gentler waves.
Caparica is situated on the southern bank of the river, near the famous Lisbon bridge and statue. It boasts its own lively center with a large boulevard lined with beach bars and a few upscale beach clubs. The area also features plenty of green spaces. Within a 15-minute taxi ride, you’ll find yourself in Lisbon’s historic center, making it the perfect spot for both surf and city life adventures.

Along the boulevard, you'll find various breakwaters that create different zones with slightly varied waves. This makes it ideal for surfers of all levels!
During the peak summer months of July and August, we cater mainly to families. In the off-season, we welcome solo travelers, couples, and groups of friends. The average guest age is between 25 and 30. Our laid-back surf house provides dining options and easy access to the vibrant nightlife of the city center. We can host up to 20 guests and communicate in English, German, and Dutch.

A substantial breakfast buffet is provided each morning, and you have the option to enjoy dinner three times a week. These dinner nights are a highlight, as guests gather in the shared garden to unwind with a glass of wine or a cold beer.
Whether you're just starting out or want to improve your surfing skills, we have different lesson packages in Portugal to help you get better quickly. Pick the basic package (3 lessons) if you want a quick refresher, or go for the extended package (5 lessons) if you plan to surf more. You can also choose your skill level to join others at the same stage, so you get the most from your surf stay at our surf B&B.
Our lessons are taught by certified instructors with top-quality surf gear. You’ll learn not only the basics but also important details like safety, beach conditions, currents, waves, and surf equipment.
When you book surf lessons, the surf gear (board and wetsuit) is provided for you during and outside of the lessons. So, you won’t need to rent any additional equipment for the week if you’re enrolled in lessons.
For those who are already confident surfers and want to explore on their own, the Surf Rental option is ideal. With Surf Rental, you’ll have access to a variety of beginner boards, wetsuits, and a great selection of fun and performance boards from Softdogsurf. Not sure which board to pick? If the surf isn't ideal, there's still plenty to do at SURFinn. You can play games in the garden, take a refreshing swim in the pool, spend a relaxing day at the beach, or explore the local area.
Feeling a bit sore from surfing? Join a yoga session after a day in the waves to help your body unwind and recover. Stretching will ease the muscle tension in your arms, legs, and back.
Planning a trip to Lisbon? Wander through the charming old town with its delightful restaurants and boutiques, and don't miss tasting the famous Pastéis de Nata.
A taxi or Uber will take you to Lisbon's city center in about 20 minutes (just try to avoid peak traffic times). While you're there, make sure to visit the Jerónimos Monastery, recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Seasonal conditions
In spring and fall, the bigger swells are great for seasoned surfers, but beginners can still find waves suitable for their first lessons. Come summer, the conditions shift: smaller swells are perfect for beginners and intermediate surfers, while the right tides and swells can still offer top-quality waves for the more experienced.

July and August tend to be quite crowded, with many visitors making the most of the summer season. However, during the spring and fall, the atmosphere becomes much more relaxed and fun for everyone to enjoy those good swells

You’ll find stunning waves breaking right in front of the expansive promenade, which is lined with vibrant bars and restaurants. The town center boasts a variety of shops and traditional Portuguese eateries, while the end of the
boulevard features a selection of upscale beach clubs.
What sets Caparica apart is its proximity to Lisbon’s historic city center, just 20 minutes away. There’s no need to explain the myriad attractions of this world-renowned city. This makes Caparica the perfect spot to enjoy a laid-back surf vacation while also exploring Lisbon. You won’t need a car since everything is easily accessible on foot or by affordable taxi.
If you do decide to rent a car, you can explore the enchanting town of Sintra, or visit Cascais and even Ericeira. A day trip south is also highly recommended—places like Fonte de Telha, Sesimbra, and Galé offer wonderful experiences!

Dining at the Beach
You can choose between cozy, casual bars and restaurants along the boulevard or more upscale beach clubs at the northern end. There’s something for everyone, and the sunset is stunning from every spot!
Trafaria, just a short distance from Caparica, you’ll find Trafaria, a neighborhood on the 'upper' side of the river with views of historic Lisbon. Once known for its drug deals, it’s now a vibrant part of Lisbon with some fantastic Portuguese eateries that have been emerging over the past decade.
A must-visit is Belém, which can be combined with a trip to the old town of Lisbon. Not only will you enjoy exploring the historic fort, but be sure to try the traditional Pastéis (pastries)!

The airport of Lisbon is 30 minutes away. From there you can go to Caparica by public transport, taxi, uber or rental car.

Prices vary from low to mid to high season. In the low and mid seasons, we offer flexible arrival where you can choose when to arrive and depart. However, we do have a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights. During the high season we operate on fixed weeks that run from Saturday to Saturday.
